Suckling lamb

Without a doubt, suckling lamb roast in a wood oven is the star of the show in these kitchens. These lambs, or lechazo as they are called in the lands watered by the basin of river Duero, are of the churra breed and certified by the “PROTECTED GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION" quality brand.

The churra race has been bred in Castilian lands since Iberian times and is characterised by a resilience to extreme weather conditions and for being a long-lived breed that does not suffer from congenital diseases.

The plentiful restaurants located in the town of Peñafiel serve this delicacy in each and every of its varieties, accompanied by a tasty salad and washed down with a magnificent Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin wine.
